Melissa Warner, Photography and Assemblage
Melissa Warner was born and raised in the Southwestern area of Michigan. From an early age she had a particular interest in nature and its surrounding beauty and found an interest in the surrealist movement. Her work presents themes of muted tonality, antiqued imagery, nature, and odd juxtapositions. To merge these ideas she has taken her photography and literally combined images and items together to create a surreal harmony between her creations.
To construct her art works she pulls together skills from sculpture, metal smith, painting, sewing, woodworking and photography to make her pieces. Her work ranges from two-dimensional photographs to Mixed Media sculptural shadow boxes and reliefs. Extracts From Illusion was her first series to bring these ideas to fruition, but soon found that her work was merging into a new direction. Thus Constructed Memories of Roots and Dreams was born. Constructed Memories encompasses both bodies of work and is a complete series.
